The French-speaking city of Geneva is located on the shore of Lake Geneva, nestling between Alpine peaks and the Jura chain of hills. Popular attractions include the Jet d’Eau (a vertical lake fountain), boat trips, terrace bars by the lake, hiking on Mont-Salève, strolling through the historic centre and a visit to St. Peter's Cathedral. Geneva is the city of international organisations. You can visit the Palace of the Nations (UN), the museum of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Excursions to the nearby towns and cities of Nyon, Lausanne and Montreux must not be missed. The Geneva Pass gives you free entry to all the museums; you can use public transport free of charge and you benefit from other reductions (e.g. on boat travel).
