The almost eight-hour journey by “the world’s slowest express train” takes you through the Alps – from fashionable St Moritz in the fascinating Upper Engadin lake region to Zermatt, where arguably one of the most famous mountains sits resplendent: the Matterhorn. This journey is known for charming landscapes and technical masterstrokes.
The Glacier Express travels from St Moritz via Filisur–Chur–Disentis–Andermatt–Brig to Zermatt – from mid-December until mid-October. You will also be treated to gastronomic delights along the way. Set menus and delicacies are freshly prepared in the on-board kitchen. For an extra slice of luxury, you can also upgrade your journey to Excellence Class. In this premium class, you will be pampered throughout: with a concierge service, welcome desk and check-in on the platform, a tablet for infotainment, a guaranteed window seat, and a 5-course menu with accompanying wines.
An additional seat reservation charge is payable per person in each direction in 1st and 2nd class as well as the Excellence Class (seat reservations mandatory). The Swiss Travel Pass is valid along the entire route.
