Motor vehicles require a vignette (toll sticker) in order to use Swiss motorways. It costs CHF 40 and is available at all customs, post offices as well as petrol stations and online. The vignette is valid for 13 months (from 1 December of each year). The vignette must be stuck onto the inside of the front windscreen. If you drive on the motorway without a vignette or if it is not stuck on correctly, you risk a fine of CHF 200.
