Which activities do you recommend in and around Interlaken?

Interlaken is situated in the Bernese Oberland between Lakes Thun and Brienz. Dominated by the mighty peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, Interlaken is the base for many activities. These include journeys up to the Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn, First or Harder Kulm mountains.

Interlaken also offers a varied programme of adventure sports (sky-diving, paragliding, rafting, canyoning, bungee-jumping and climbing). Interlaken is surrounded by splendid hiking routes that will take you to mountains such as the Niesen, Niederhorn or Faulhorn.

For guests who prefer less exertion, we recommend a visit to the St. Beatus Caves or the Swiss Woodcarving Museum, or steamer trips on the lakes. Various winter skiing areas can be reached quickly by public transport. These include Grindelwald-First, Männlichen-Kleine Scheidegg and Mürren-Schilthorn.

The Bernese Oberland Regional Pass and the Jungfrau Travel Pass give you reductions on normal and mountain railways, boats and buses. In the vicinity of Interlaken, the towns of Spiez and Thun and also Oberhofen Castle on Lake Thun are worth visiting.
